OutRun for Casio fxCG10/20/50 and Graph 90+E

OutRun is a free interpretation for Casio fx-CG10/20/50 (PRIZM & Graph 90+E) of the huge classic game OutRun, released about thirty years ago on Sega Mega Drive and later adapted to many platforms. It is a racing game known for its very high speed. This is a free interpretation, meaning it is inspired by the original OutRun but adapted in a Casio style without reproducing it exactly.

Driving takes multiple parameters into account: the track can have left or right turns, where you must choose your line carefully to gain speed (inside line) or lose it (outside line). You also need to stay reasonable in curves to avoid being thrown out by centrifugal force (which can send you off-road). The track can include uphill and downhill sections, which naturally affect maximum speed depending on slope. Driving on the shoulder slows the car down, and overdoing it can fully stop the player (repositioning the car in the middle of the track and costing precious seconds).

Our OutRun lets you drive at full speed on roads around the world, with 10 tracks and 2 different game modes:

  • "Arcade" mode aims to finish the race within the time limit, each adding more or less time depending on difficulty. The race is lost if the timer reaches 0 before the finish line. The main challenge comes from road traffic that must be avoided to prevent time loss.
  • "Time attack" mode has no opponents and focuses on the best possible lap times on track. A "Hall of Fame" shows the top 5 times for each track. The goal is to appear in the top 5 to win. Precise trajectory control becomes the key to success.
  • Hills and turns are announced slightly in advance by road signs, but you still need sharp reflexes and strong nerves, since you're driving around 250 km/h.
